Greencar Program - bioethanol, hybrid and electric cars in fleet system

The carfleet of the SZIE, and the huge transportation feature of the Unversity has called for a programme to mitigate the emissions of the transportation at spot. The Climate Council has conducted a research on biofuel, hybrid and electric cars to find out, which of these would fit to the modell of the SZIE. Since the agricultural conditions of Hungary and the traditions of the university, the bioethanol research came up with promising results to be one of the best strategies to reduce carbon significantly from the system.

The alternative fuel was researched for its carbon footprint on a life cycle analysis basis, production sites, and sustainable agriculture and processing was also counted. The result is a fueltype that reduces at least 40% carbon compared to the petrol 95, is energy positive and cost efficient, being cheaper with guaranteed non-taxing on fuel-mixed alcohol by the Hungarian state. The needed changes to adjust engines are in a range of 200-400 Euros to calculate, that makes every petrol car easy to change for a flexi car. All elements of the supply chain from production to retail were researched, and the partners see a big development phase of these fleets in the future, the university is running currently a test of the bigger scale by trying bioethanol in 100 cars of the university fleet and testing a Peugeot 308 Bioflexi.
